After matcha cafés, collagen bars and Instagrammable co-working spaces, the capital is now preparing to welcome a venue that millions of students and remote workers around the world have been waiting for without even daring to hope. On Rue Saint-Denis, between Châtelet and the Centre Pompidou, a familiar sign has appeared in the windows of a former shop: the Lofi Café. The famous animated student, white headphones over her ears and a ginger cat by her side, is finally leaving her screen to settle into real life.

Since 2017, Lofi Girl has been accompanying millions of people on loop during their work, study or relaxation sessions. Created by Dimitri Somoguy, this young woman animated in a Japanese style inspired by Studio Ghibli has become one of the most recognisable icons on the internet. Today, her YouTube channel boasts more than 15.6 million subscribers, and her music, lo-fi hip-hop, with its deliberately imperfect and soothing sounds, is listened to by thousands of listeners simultaneously, every day, all over the world.
The result: a cultural phenomenon that goes far beyond a simple playlist. The world’s first Lofi Girl café opens in Paris, Rue Saint-Denis
It was at the end of December 2025 that passers-by spotted the first window displays dressed in the colours of Lofi Girl at 60 Rue Saint-Denis, 75001 Paris, just a stone’s throw from Châtelet – Les Halles and the Centre Pompidou, opposite the Seine, a few minutes from Notre-Dame. A location in the beating heart of the capital, frequented as much by Parisians as by travellers from all over the world.
On the windows adorned with the student and her famous cat, a QR code invites the curious to sign up to be notified as soon as it opens. The Lofi Girl channel officially confirmed the news on X with two knowing emojis, removing any doubt about the 100% official nature of the project.
The website loficafe.com describes the venue as: “a cosy place in the heart of Paris to take a break, work and relax.” One can imagine a hybrid café-coworking space bathed in soft light, comfortable furniture and, of course, continuous lo-fi, all in an atmosphere directly inspired by the channel’s animated universe.
